Episode 64 - 4 More Movies for 2012

We have a big show to close out the year as Trevor and Gabbie tackle 4 different films!

Have you ever wondered about the origins of Leonard McCoy's catchphrase? Or one of FDR's most famous quotations? Well, have no fear because Trevor is going to talk about two movies that will answer those questions for you: The Kennel Murder Case and Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies.

For Gabbie's part, she's going to be tackling a whole mess of fire dragons when she talks about Fire and Ice: The Dragon Chronicles and Dungeons and Dragons

Also, one of the films, The Kennel Murder Case, happens to be public domain. So that means it's extremely easy to check out - just head over to archive.org: http://archive.org/details/The_Kennel_Murder_Case_1933

It will take more than being in different provinces to keep us from putting out another exciting Christmas episode for you to enjoy!

This week, we kick things off with Black Christmas. Sadly, it's not the 1974 classic but rather than 2006 remake. While the remake is nowhere near as iconic as the original film, it's still a decent slasher flick and a worthy addition to any holiday lineup.

The true fun begins though, with our Bottom 100 movie, which happens to be none other than the 1959 Mexican classic, Santa Claus. In this tale, Santa lives in a castle in the sky (in heaven!) with Merlin, a burly blacksmith, and a bunch of slave children as he works tirelessly to produce toys for the children of Earth. Okay, he doesn't really do any of the work, but he does play the organ while making the children build toys for him. And he takes breaks to spy on children, even going inside their dreams!

This Christmas though, Santa has an extra challenge to deal with as Lucifer has sent one of his devils, Pitch, to thwart Santa. He may even try to leave Santa trapped on Earth where he will surely starve as he cannot eat what we call food. In his homeland of Heaven they only eat pastries and ice cream made from clouds and very few foodstuffs on Earth are made of clouds.

It's a truly bizarre experience that will teach you the true meaning of Christmas. And since it's public domain, why not check out the whole film on YouTube

Episode 62 - Santa Slays and Santa with Muscles

Ah, Christmas. The time of year when people put aside their petty grievances and turn to the nearest wrestler to provide them with holiday themed entertainment. We open this week with a discussion of 2005's Santa's Slay. It turns out that Santa (as played by Bill Goldberg) was actually the son of Satan and has only been bringing us presents for the past 1000 years on account of a lost bet. Well all bets are off now and Santa's returning to his murderous ways.

Next up, we have our bottom 100 film, 1996's Santa with Muscles. In this movie, Hulk Hogan plays a egotistical body-building millionaire obsessed with self-promotion (what a stretch!). But then after an unfortunate bout of movie amnesia, he ends up thinking he's actually Santa. And then he has to go help some orphans (including a very young Mila Kunis) because that's what Santa does, I guess.

So grab some egg nog and settle down for some holiday cheer?

Episode 61 - Angel of Death and Miss Cast Away

This week, we talk about Zoe Bell kicking all manner of ass in Angel of Death. Apparently being a professional assassin is all fun and games until someone gets stabbed in the skull. Then suddenly everything is all serious and such. Not only does this movie have some excellent action moments, it also has a (brief) appearance from Ted Raimi. Yay!

There's much less to cheer about with the bottom 100 film this week as Trevor and Gabbie endure Miss Cast Away. When a planeful of beauty pageant contestants crash land on a remote island will they be able to survive? Or will the bad CG pig dinosaur thingee eat them? Or maybe the apes will launch Noah's new ark and doom mankind? Whatever happens, you can be sure it will be stupid. So tune in to learn all about the movie that drove Trevor to drink!

Episode 60 - Drive Thru and Car 54, Where Are You?

Meet Horny the Clown. He's just like Ronald McDonald - they both are beloved clown mascots that represent a popular fast food restaurant. Really the only difference is that Ronald McDonald is slightly less bloodthirsty.  Oh, and Horny is the villain in a movie called Drive Thru starring Leighton Meister of Gossip Girl fame.

Then it's off to hunt down Car 54 for the Bottom 100 film of the week.. If the theme song is any indication, this is one elusive car! But really it's a buddy cop 90s comedy that is also a remake of a 1960s TV series. And its cast includes Fran Drescher and Rosie O'Donnell. Surprisingly it may not be as bad as a lot of the other films we have covered for the Bottom 100 segment.

Episode 59 - Phantoms and Snowboard Academy

On the show this week we tackle 1998's Phantoms starring Ben Affleck, Rose McGowan, Liev Schreiber and some other folks. At first glance this is a standard paranormal thriller with a bunch of missing townsfolk and some creepy happenings. But is it really a paranormal thriller? Or is there something more sci-fi-y going on?

Then on our bottom 100, we learn about how cool snowboarding is while being entertained by some 'hilarious' slapstick in Snowboard Academy starring Jim Varney (of Ernest fame), Corey Haim, Brigitte Nielsen and Joe Flaherty. Joe Flaherty might be a funny guy, but he's no match for this pile of dreck.

So gather around for another double dose of reviews!

Episode 58 - Asylum Blackout and Epic Movie

We kick things off this week with a curious incident that took place in an asylum. An asylum that just happened to have a power outage (as you may have guessed from the subtle title, Asylum Blackout). George and his friends serve food in an insane asylum by day and attempt to become rockstars by night. All and all, it's not a great life, but when the power goes out and the inmates get loose, you just know things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

Then it's back to the dreaded "Movie movie" territory for #68 on the Bottom 100 list as Trevor and Gabbie tackle 2007's Epic Movie featuring 'hilarious' spoofs of The Chronicles of Narnia, Superman Returns, Pirates of the Caribbean, the X-Men fanchise, any other major movies from late 2006 and early 2007 and whatever random pop culture crap the writers decided to throw in. If bestiality, poop jokes and punchlines you can see a mile away are your thing, boy are you in for a treat!

Join us in this week's episode filled with shocking revealations, lots of ranting and some other stuff!

Now that Halloween's over for another year, we take a break from the horror to discuss the 2012 action thriller, The Aggression Scale. It's kind of like Home Alone if Kevin's parents had been shot and he and his sister had to engage the burglars in a deadly game of cat and mouse. Also, Ray Wise is there!

Then we learn that just because you like the actor playing the title character doesn't mean the movie isn't going to be a complete mess. Especially if they give the actor a "cool" distortion effect on his voice so you can barely make out any of his lines. That's what happens with Matt Frewer and #69 on the bottom 100 list, Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace

So gather round and join this week's discussion!

It's time for the early November Halloween special! Yay!

For this special, we've got 1979's When a Stranger Calls, a film adaptation of the whole "the calls are coming from inside the house" thing. Or at least that's the first 25 minutes or so. Then the whole story goes off on a whole other direction.

Then we jump forward a decade to 1989's Pet Sematary where we learn that apparently it isn't a good idea to use unholy powers to raise things from the dead. Who knew?

This week we bring an end to our Tales from the Crypt month with another fun double-bill. First it's Television Terror starring a less well-known Downey Jr as a tabloid TV host doing the whole ghost-hunting thing. That's followed by As Ye Sow, a tale about a man who is worried his much younger wife is cheating on him. The best thing about that one, not only is the lead character named Mr. Burns, but the episode also features an appearance by the world's greatest detective, Adam West!

After the fun times with Tales from the Crypt, it's time to bring on the pain with #70 on the Bottom 100 list. The film was created by and stars nobody you've ever heard of, is almost entirely unscripted and is called Anus Magillicutty. You had better believe there is going to be pain! Even the cenobites would probably think it's a bit much.

So listen to this week's episode, if ye dare!
