Episode 141 - Kids Get Dead 2 and Hell Night

We have quite a fun double-bill on tap for you this week. First up, we talk about the sequel to 80s slasher homage, Kids Get Dead. That's right, Kids Get Dead 2: The Kids Get Deader. This time around, Casey is determined to get to the bottom of how the events from the first movie were foretold in a book so she tracks down the author. While she is doing that, Brian is reading the follow-up book, Kids Get Dead 2, while his sister is having a party at his house. Hopefully nobody is going to end up dead. Or deader!

It seemed obvious to pair Kids Get Dead 2 with an 80s slasher movie so that's what we did when we took a look at Hell Night. Linda Blair is Marti and she and 3 fellow pledges are going to have to spend the night in Garth Manor if they want to get in to their respective fraternity/sorority. Legend has it that 12 years ago, most of the freakish and isolated inhabitants of Garth Manor were brutally by the family patriarch. However said legend also claims that one of the children survived and was never seen again. Surely that's just a silly legend though, right? Right?

So why not check out this week's episode?

Episode 140 - The Machine and Cyborg

It's all about the AI this week. First up, we talk about The Machine. When can a being be considered alive? Do we want artificial lifeforms? And, most important of all (to some), how can this benefit the military? These questions and more are answered in The Machine.

Then we have another Jean-Claude Van Damme film, Cyborg. It's the not too distant future and a plague has wiped out most of humanity. The good news is that there's a cyborg with a potential key for a cure. The bad news is that said cyborg is in the hands of Fender; a not very nice man that Jean-Claude Van Damme doesn't much care for. Much violence ensues!

Episode 139 - Death Train and Sudden Death

It's an all death, all the time episode of Failing Grade this week. First up, did you know there was a movie in the early 90s that starred Pierce Brosnan, Patrick Stewart AND Christopher Lee. Well, there was and it is called Death Train. Christopher Lee is an evil Russian general and its up to Pierce Brosnan and Patrick Stewart to stop him before he manages to reignite the cold war!

Then, it's hockey time with Sudden Death. Jean-Claude Van Damme is fire marshal that just happens to be working Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals when, wouldn't you know, someone decides to take the Vice President hostage and threaten to blow up the whole stadium. Oh, and said someone also ends up in possession of Van Damme's daughter. You better believe it's cheesy action time!

Episode 138 - Failing Grade at the Movies 2

Trevor and Gabbie took in not one but two highly anticipated theatrical releases, X-Men Days of Future Past and Godzilla this past week so they figured that would make good podcast fodder.

Do these movies live up to the hype? How do they compare to past films in their respective franchises? Will anyone be disappointed? And if so, in which film? Join us to find out!

Episode 137 - Star Trek 4 and Pompeii

This week circumstances got in the way and while we were still able to cover two movies the presentation is a bit different than our norm.

First up, we have Star Trek 4. With the Earth's wracked by storms and power failures thanks to the arrival of a mysterious probe, Kirk and his crew realize that they only way they can hope to save the planet is by going back in time! And unfortunately for them, you need to go way faster than 88 MPH to get a Klingon Bird of Prey to do that.

And getting to the 1980s is just the start, once they get there they have to overcome all sorts of obstacles while having a wacky adventure! Note: Gabbie didn't much care for this movie but she also thinks that Star Trek Nemesis is "awesome" so keep that in mind.

Then Gabbie took in Pompeii. There's slaves and gladiators, love and war all that stuff. I believe there may also be some sort of volcano involved as well.
