Episode 163 - Hell Ride and Eye of the Tiger

This week, we take a look at Hell Ride, a 2008 film homage to biker films starring Michael Madsen, Dennis Hopper, Vinnie Jones and David Carradine (along with a bevy of less known names). When the Six-Six-Sixes resurface and start going after Pistolero's turf, it's all out biker war. Plus there's a whole back story to explore about why these two groups have such bad blood in the first place.

Then we find out that apparently Gary Busey was an action star at one point in Eye of the Tiger. Gary Busey plays Buck Mathews a Vietnam vet fresh out of prison who just wants to get his life back on track. Unfortunately his town is being terrorized by drug running dirt bikers and a confrontation is inevitable. This movie is the very epitome of 80s films and well worth checking out!

Episode 162 - Legend and Tromeo and Juliet

Despite the fact Valentine's is still months away, this week we took a look at a couple of stories that were built around love. First up, it's the 1985 fantasy family film, Legend starring Tom Cruise, Mia Sara and Tim Curry. It's got goblins, unicorns and all that stuff. Plus there's a brief appearance from Robert Picardo.

We then take a look at one of the most famous love stories of all, that of the love of Juliet and her Tromeo. Yes, it's Troma's Tromeo and Juliet, one of the more over-the-top takes on the bard's tale of forbidden love. Can Tromeo and Juliet find true love? Or will Juliet be forced to marry London so that her dad can fufill his dream of a meat and movie alliance? You'll have to watch the movie to find out!

Episode 161 - The Fighting Fist of Shanghai Joe and White Comanche

This week on the show we are delving into a genre we haven't really touched on the show, the western. First up we have The Fighting Fist of Shanghai Joe. This one is about a martial arts master coming from China to the Old West to fulfill his dream of being a cowboy. But then he learns that white people are terrible and he has to beat up a bunch of people who are trying to kill him with guns.

After that, we take a look at the White Comanche. In this one we have twin brothers with mixed race parents. One of them, Johnny Moon, lives the cowboy lifestyle; the other, Notah Moon, smoked too much peyote and decided he was the messiah. The best part, both these characters are played by none other than William Shatner!

So why not join us as we explore these films?

Episode 160 - Would You Rather and House on Haunted Hill

We have been dealing with a lot of horror lately so this week we thought we would shift gears and have a nice dinner party for everyone. First up, it's Would You Rather. Jeffrey Combs plays Shepard Lambrick and he's the head of the Lambrick Foundation. He's invited a bunch of strangers for a dinner party where they have a chance to have their problems solved. Of course, they may have to play a somewhat intense game of Would You Rather in order to win his help, but I'm sure it's all in good fun, right?

Then once we leave that party, we are off to the House on Haunted Hill where Dr. Loren (played by the one and only Vincent Price) and his wife are hosting another party for another group of strangers. This time, you only get a measly $10000, but you just have to stay in an old house for the night so how hard can that be?

Episode 159 - Intruder and Final Exam

Halloween may have come and gone but that doesn't mean we here at Failing Grade can't enjoy a couple of 80s slasher films.

First up, it's Intruder. After a violent and jealous ex-boyfriend has to be kicked out of a grocery store, the employees start being horribly killed. This movie features some great practical gore effects and the cast includes both Ted and Sam Raimi. Bruce Campbell also has a brief cameo!

Then it's time for our Final Exam. It's nearly the end of the semester and the campus is virtually deserted. Also, there's a psychopathic killer running and around and killing students for no apparent reason. As the movie's tagline claims, "Some will pass the test. God help the rest!"

Don't worry, there will not be a quiz at the end of this week's episode.

Or will there?
