Episode 98 - Critters 2 and The Creeping Terror

This week on Failing Grade we take another trip to Grover's Mills to revisit those charming little balls of death, the Crites, in Critters 2: The Main Course. Brad's family has all moved away (and out of the franchise) but conveniently Brad's in town to visit his grandmother and wouldn't you know it, the critters are back! Mayhem ensues.

After that, it's time for the most terrifying movie ever made about a killer carpet from outer space, The Creeping Terror. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to have a narrator forced to try and carry an entire movie, this is the film for you!

Episode 97 - City of the Dead and Who's Your Caddy?

We kick things off this week with 1960's City of the Dead. In this movie we learn, yet again, why you should never, ever trust Christopher Lee. He's Nan Barlowe's professor and when she's looking to really get some hands on experience for her term paper in witchcraft, he just happens to know the perfect place she should go. What could possibly go wrong?

The in the bottom 100 film, poor Jeffery Jones. It's bad enough that he kept getting one-upped by Ferris Bueller, but now he's stuck as the villain of Who's Your Caddy? Christopher "C-Note" Hawkins is anxious to join an exclusive golf club, but unfortunately they're all a bunch of racists. On the bright side, he has Uncle Phil in his corner!

Episode 96 - Critters and Sura

Gremlins sure was great, wasn't it? So great that it seems like everyone just couldn't wait to get their own Gremlin-knock off out in to the market. Some of these were pretty good, and some not so much. This week, we're taking a look at Critters. But which category does it fall in to? You'll have to listen to find out!

Then in our bottom 100 movie, we go back to watch what is probably the longest movie on the list, Sura. Sura just wants to help his village, but when a corrupt government official plots to steal their land, things get serious! Fortunately Sura is basically a superhero so the bad guys aren't going to have an easy time of things!

Join us we explore these films!

Episode 95 - Children of the Corn II and Girl in Gold Boots

Holy bananas! It's time for a new episode of Failing Grade!

On this week's show we continue the journey through the Children of the Corn franchise with the not-so-aptly named, Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice. After the grisly murders of the first movie are uncovered a neighboring town decides to take in the surviving children. The children decide to repay this kindness with murder!

For our bottom 100 movie, we have Girl in Gold Boots from 1968. Three strangers, Buzz, Michelle and Critter cross paths and decide to head to LA together so Michelle can try to make it as a dancer. It's like Showgirls but without the nudity!

Truly this week's show is one for the ages!

Episode 94 - Grimm's Snow White and Robo Vampire

It's knock-off week on Failing Grade. Why watch a movie when you can watch a movie made to cash in on the success of that movie?

First up, it's an Asylum film, Grimm's Snow White, made to cash in on theatrical releases of not one, but two Snow White movies in 2012. On the upside, this movie has a whole new take on the Snow White story with elves, beasts, magic and more. It's not a great movie, but it's a fun romp.

Then we have a movie made to cash-in on the popularity of Robocop. It's Robo Vampire! This movie is extremely low budget and very bizarre. It also is actually two unrelated movies edited in to one. A memorable viewing experience if there ever was one!

Episode 93 - Doomsday Book and a Trip to the Cinema

Stories abound this week on the show. We open up with the South Korean anthology film, Doomsday Book. The first story tells you how a rotten apple can lead to a zombie apocalypse. In the second story, a robot becomes self-aware in a Buddhist monastery. And in the third story, we learn all about the dangers of ordering things on the internet (in a much more amusing way than that might sound).

Then Trevor recaps some recent trips to the cinema and gives his impressions on Man of Steel, World War Z and Much Ado About Nothing.

Plus some bonus complaining about moochers!

Episode 92 - Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter and The Gate

When a horde of vampires descend upon Ottawa and start feasting on the local lesbian population, who are you going to call to stop the vampires and save the day? Buffy? Blade? Peter Cushing? I suppose those would be okay choices, but none of them can hold a candle to Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter. You better believe Trevor is going to be on board for this!

Then in a lost segment, Gabbie revisits another childhood favorite, The Gate. Will The Gate prove to be another disappointment like My Stepmother is an Alien? Or is this one trip to hell that is worth taking?

Episode 91 - My Stepmother Is an Alien and Zodiac Killer

Going back to a movie you loved as a child is always a risky proposition. Sometimes you find the movie holds up or even works on levels you didn't think of, and other times nostalgia is enough to carry the movie and help you to overlook its flaws. But all too often that movie that you thought was so great turns out to be kind of terrible. With that said, this week Trevor and Gabbie take a look at a childhood favorite of Gabbie's, My Stepmother Is an Alien. Things don't go so well.

Then for the bottom 100 movie, Trevor and Gabbie review the offensive and insane Zodiac Killer. It's got serial killers, senior abuse, bizarre cults and, oh yeah, real pictures of actual murder scenes and their aftermath. Thanks for that Ulli Lommel.

Episode 90 - Terror Train and Crossover

Everyone loves a big New Year's Eve Party. Even better, this particular party is a costume party. And it takes place on a train! Of course, the presence of Jamie Lee Curtis suggests perhaps this is a Terror Train! It's a barrel of fun and MURDER!

Then in our bottom 100 movie, who better to introduce us to the seedy world of underground street basketball than Whose Line Is It Anyway's Wayne Brady? Bad acting, silly editing and the least threatening underground gambling ring in history - Crossover has it all!

We also have a bit of a discussion on Psycho 2 and characters that struggle with their sanity.

And for those who are wondering, the documentary Gabbie refers to is Screaming in High Heels: The Rise & Fall of the Scream Queen Era.

Episode 89 - Deadly Friend and Space Mutiny

What could be better than having your own self-aware pet robot? It can wander around, protect your car from thieves and even say "BB" all the time! Surely, our hero Paul has it made. On the other hand, this week's film is called Deadly Friend, and it is directed by Wes Craven so I suppose things might take a turn for the worse at some point.

Our bottom 100 movie this week is a blast. When Kalgan and his team of enforcers decide to take over the Southern Sun, it's up to Reb Brown, a floor buffer, stock footage from the 70s BSG and some random dancers to save the day! Truly, Space Mutiny is b-movie paradise.
